Description
Varieties
Syrah (100%)
Terroir
The Syrah is from some of the oldest vines in Les Serres, south of Batea in Terra Alta. The calcareous soil is very poor in organic matter, and the heat of 2022 led to low yields of concentrated fruit.
Production
The grapes were hand picked on the 18th September. After a 3 day cold soak, fermentations followed for 15 days at up to 26°C in stainless steel, with regular punchdowns. Malolactic fermentation and 11 months maturation was carried out in old 300 litre French oak barrels. This wine is bottled unfiltered.

Stewed damson and black cherry dominate the palate with spicy hints of white pepper, cardamom and chocolate. It finishes smoothly with a hint of chalky tannin.

Excellent with strong cheeses, grilled lamb and hearty stews such as a vegetarian lentil casserole. Also pairs well in savoury dishes with dark chocolate.

The wine is ready for drinking now and should ideally be served at 16-18°C. It can also be lightly chilled in the heat of summer.
