Whites

Mention white wine in the context of Spain, and you may think of the Albarinos from the far north west of the country, but Catalonia is also a hotbed of white wines, especially from higher altitude vineyards. From the versatile Xareŀlo grape of Penedes, to the magnificant White Grenache (known locally as Garnatxa Blanca) from Terra Alta, white wine is a serious business. Indeed did you know that 1/3 of the total world plantings of White Grenache are in the tiny comarca of Terra Alta in the far south of Catalonia.
