Mas Comtal comprises 40 hectares of organically grown vines, located in the easternmost part of the Penedès region, at the foot of the Garraf mountains. The estate has a marked Mediterranean influence and is protected from the cold northern winds by the beautiful hill of Montserrat. Geographically, it is at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, with soil from the Quaternary period composed of sand, mud and clay. The soil is very limy, of average quality and is highly permeable to water.
The origin of the current name Mas Comtal refers to the Count of Barcelona who owned property here in the early second millennium.
The family acquired the farm at the end of the fifteenth century, and since that time it has belonged to the same family and since the mid-nineteenth century, the family has had the surname of Milà.
Currently, Marta Milà runs the business and is the manager of the cellar and is responsible both for the cultivation of vineyards business and the production of the award winning organic wines.
The winery produces a large range of wines and cavas, using the most appropriate wine making style to express the best from their variety of terroirs.
